The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, brought the 2021 DC FanDome to a close with the release of an exciting and action-packed trailer for the Robert Pattinson-starrer superhero film.
The online fan event was jam-packed with trailers for DC's upcoming titles, including the 'Black Adam,' 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods,' 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,' and the 'Peacemaker' series.
The new teaser provides additional information on the film's plot, as well as Pattinson's Batman, Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman, and a slew of other significant characters.
It promises to be a dark and opulently violent reimagining of the classic superhero, which has previously starred Michael Keaton, George Clooney, Christina Bale, and Ben Affleck.
The Riddler, played by Paul Dano, is seen briefly in the trailer, although his face is obscured.
There were other scenes in which Pattinson was shown engaging in hand-to-hand combat with his opponents, including one in which he walks into a room while being bombarded by gunfire.
Before the trailer's premiere, Pattinson and Kravitz joined Reeves for a panel discussion.
This version of the Caped Crusader, according to Pattinson, is "a little out of control."
"He doesn't have as much control over his personality, and the line between Batman and Bruce isn't always apparent... When he puts on the cowl in other iterations, he knows what he's doing," the actor remarked.
With her portrayal of Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, Kravitz stated that she sought to show a "true human being."
"I appreciate the weight of a figure like her and what she means to so many people, but I felt it was more essential to focus on the story we're doing right now and attempt to portray a real human person."
"I don't want her to be an idea, so I don't. I want her to be a genuine person in a real position trying to survive in a real city and reacting to her anguish. As a result, I concentrated solely on this story at this specific time in this woman's life "she continued.
According to Reeves, the film is unlike any other origin story for the character.
